This Community Service activity aims to improve the efficiency of financial management at the waste bank in Sadeng Village, Bogor Regency, through the development of a simple Microsoft Excel-based accounting information system. The main challenge faced by partners was the continued use of a manual financial recording system, which resulted in low efficiency and accuracy, as well as limitations in transparency and accountability of financial reports. Furthermore, managers also experienced limitations in preparing systematic financial reports and utilizing data for business decision-making.
The implementation method for this activity was carried out through several stages: needs analysis, design and implementation of the accounting information system, training on system usage, mentoring, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The developed system included recording waste deposit transactions, cash inflows and outflows, managing member balances, and automatically preparing financial reports. The activity was implemented using a participatory approach and a learning-by-doing method to enable managers to understand and operate the system independently.
The results of this activity demonstrated improved financial recording efficiency, improved data accuracy, and enhanced managerial ability to use the accounting information system. Furthermore, transparency and accountability in financial management were also enhanced through the presentation of more systematic reports to members. The development of SOPs also strengthened consistency in the waste bank's financial management.
In conclusion, the implementation of a simple Microsoft Excel-based accounting information system significantly improved the quality of waste bank financial management. This program not only impacted the technical aspects of record-keeping but also supported the strengthening of organizational governance and the sustainability of community-based businesses.
