Sosialisasi Bahaya Gadget terhadap Minat Baca Siswa/Siswi di SMK Negeri 5 Kota Tangerang

Abstrak
Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 5 Kota Tangerang terhadap dampak negatif penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan terhadap minat baca. Melalui seminar, diskusi interaktif, dan materi edukatif, kegiatan ini menyoroti bagaimana penggunaan gadget yang tidak terkontrol menggeser minat siswa dari membaca ke konten digital yang instan. Kegiatan ini juga menekankan pentingnya pengawasan dari guru dan orang tua serta mengusulkan solusi praktis seperti pembatasan waktu layar, penetapan target membaca, dan penciptaan program berbasis literasi di sekolah. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa antusias dan mengakui relevansi topik ini dengan kehidupan mereka sehari-hari. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kolaborasi antara institusi pendidikan tinggi dan sekolah dalam mendorong literasi dan kesadaran digital.

Abstract
This community service activity aims to raise awareness among students of SMK Negeri 5 Kota Tangerang about the negative effects of excessive gadget use on reading interest. Through seminars, interactive discussions, and educational materials, the program highlights how uncontrolled gadget use shifts student preferences from reading to instant digital content. The activity also emphasizes the importance of teacher and parent supervision and proposes practical solutions such as limiting screen time, setting reading goals, and creating literacy-based school programs. The results showed that students were enthusiastic and acknowledged the relevance of the topic to their daily lives. The program also strengthened the collaboration between higher education institutions and schools in promoting literacy and digital awareness.
