Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has made digital media a primary means of social interaction, especially among teenagers and students. The high intensity of internet and social media use such as WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube is not always matched by an adequate understanding of digital communication ethics. This condition has the potential to give rise to various problems such as the spread of hoaxes, hatred, cyberbullying, and privacy violations. Based on initial observations at the PKBM Binar Jombang, Ciputat District, South Tangerang City, the majority of students have actively used digital media, but their understanding of communication ethics in the digital space remains limited. This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding of digital communication ethics and encourage the development of polite, wise, and responsible communication behavior in the use of social media. The activity was implemented through education, outreach, and interactive discussions involving students as active participants. The material presented included the concept of digital communication, the principles of communication ethics, digital literacy, and various risks of digital communication such as cyberbullying, hatred, and the spread of false information. This activity was carried out at PKBM Binar Jombang with a target of approximately 70 high school students aged 15–20 years. Through outreach activities, training, as well as discussion and experience sharing sessions, participants are expected to understand the importance of digital communication ethics and be able to apply them in their daily lives. The expected results of this activity are increased digital literacy of students, the formation of awareness of the importance of ethics in communicating in the digital space, and the creation of a healthier, safer, and more responsible digital communication environment among students. Furthermore, this activity is also expected to be an academic contribution to the development of digital literacy studies and serve as a reference for the implementation of community service programs that focus on digital communication ethics education.
