Project time management is a critical factor in ensuring the success of large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly those characterized by high levels of complexity. Project delays remain a recurring problem caused by weaknesses in planning, coordination, and time control mechanisms. This study aims to analyze project duration reduction strategies through crashing and fast tracking approaches and to compare the characteristics of time management practices in national and international projects from the perspectives of culture, location, and human resources. The main problem addressed in this study is the difference in effectiveness of project time management strategies between national and international project contexts. The study proposes the application of appropriate acceleration strategies supported by effective managerial coordination as a solution. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method, with the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway Project (KCIC) as a representation of an international project and national infrastructure projects in Indonesia as comparative objects. Data were collected through literature review and document analysis. The results indicate that crashing and fast tracking can improve project time effectiveness when implemented properly. However, international projects face higher complexity due to cultural differences, location challenges, and human resource readiness. The study concludes that successful project time management depends not only on acceleration strategies but also on the ability of project managers to manage contextual factors inherent in national and international projects.
