Abstract

Sabun transparan merupakan salah satu jenis sabun padat. Dengan penambahan ekstrak Jahe Merah diharapkan dapat meningkatkan manfaat dari sabun transparan. Kandungan senyawa pada jahe merah diketahui dapat memberikan aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses serta formulasi pembuatan sabun padat transparan menggunakan basis minyak kelapa murni (Virgin Coconut Oil) dengan penambahan ekstrak Jahe merah dan pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik sabun. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini adalah penambahan ekstrak jahe merah sebesar A= 0 % B = 1 % C = 2 % dan D = 3%. (wt/wt) Dari total basis sabun. Parameter yang diamati diantaranya adalah Transparansi, kadar air, pH dan uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia Coli. Hasil pengujian transparansi sabun menunjukkan sabun tanpa penambahan ekstrak jahe lebih transparan dengan kadar air paling kecil yaitu 10,1895 %. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dari zona hambat yang terbentuk dari kedua bakteri, Zona hambat sabun A, B, C ,D  terhadap bakteri S. aureus yaitu 14mm, 16mm, 19mm, (Daya hambat kuat) dan 22mm (Daya hambat sangat kuat), dan terhadap E. Coli yaitu 13mm, 14mm, 16mm, dan 18mm (Daya hambat kuat).
