Peran Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah dalam Membangun Kesadaran Antikorupsi pada Siswa di SMPN 2 Cikeusik

Abstract

Corruption which has permeated various sectors of life, including education, poses a serious challenge to the character development of the younger generation. This study is motivated by the continued presence of corruptive behaviors among students at SMPN 2 Cikeusik, such as cheating, dishonesty in completing assignments, and a lack of discipline. The purpose of this research is to examine the role of the principal’s leadership in fostering students’ anti-corruption awareness, as well as the strategies implemented to instill anti-corruption values. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants consist of the principal, Pancasila education teachers, religious education teachers, and students. The findings reveal that the principal plays a role as a moral role model and a transformational leader by emphasizing the values of honesty, responsibility, and discipline. The strategies implemented include the integration of anti-corruption values into classroom instruction, co-curricular activities such as Friday Religious Activities (Jumat Takwa) and an honesty-based cooperative store, as well as the habituation of positive school culture through exemplary conduct. Nevertheless, several obstacles were identified, including students’ low level of awareness and limited supporting facilities. The study concludes that the principal’s leadership plays a significant role in fostering students’ anti-corruption awareness; however, it requires support from all members of the school community and a conducive environment to achieve optimal results.
