Abstract

ABSTRACT: The crime of drug abuse is a crime that is increasingly developing in the era, and there are more and more ways to commit a crime. One that will be threatened by the development of the way criminal acts occur is children. Children are the spearhead of the nation's generation that will determine the direction in which this nation will prosper in the future. This act of drug abuse will undoubtedly threaten the quality of the nation's generation and psychologically and physically damage the children who will determine the nation's direction. Even so, children who become perpetrators of criminal acts need legal protection as a form of government paying attention to children as an essential thing. However, in some cases, children as perpetrators need to go through the criminal law process just like adults. This raises interest in the discussion of research. This study aims to determine the application of criminal law and what kind of concept of legal protection will be applied. The research method used in this study is a normative legal research method. The data sources used are based on primary legal materials, namely legislation, and secondary legal materials, such as books, journals, etc.
