Abstract

The increasingly widespread practice of online trading transactions (Ecommerce) in Indonesia makes it easier for people who want to shop for goods and services needed, butthere are many violations of consumer rights that open up opportunities for fraud from business actors or third parties regarding the security of personal data. which is guaranteed by the online shop owner so that it has implications for consumer protection. The purpose of this research is to find out the protection for users of online buying and selling services (Ecommerce) regarding the confidentiality of personal data and how shop owners resolve disputes related to consumer losses. The normative legal research method is used as a writing method which originates from statutory regulations and library materials. The results of this study indicate that consumer protection in buying and selling online using ecommerce is not clear because protection for consumers for losses received due to irresponsibility of E- Commerce business actors in paying off transactions has not been clearly regulated in the Consumer Protection Law. However, business actors who can be contacted can be held responsible for compensation. In Indonesia, there are two legal remedies that consumers cantake if they suffer losses in online trading transactions, namely by court or out of court (consultation, negotiation, mediation, or expert judgment) according to the agreement of each party.
