Penerapan AREL dalam British Parliamentary Debate untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis dalam Public Speaking

Abstract

Pentingnya Berpikir Kritis dan berbicara bahasa Inggris saat ini semakin jelas dan termasuk pula dalam bidang pendidikan. Banyak lembaga pendidikan mengembangkan berbagai program khususnya program bahasa Inggris seperti yang selalu dilakukan oleh Jampang English Village Kemang Bogor. Tim dari Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Sastra Universitas Pamulang berinisiatif mengadakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat untuk melatih para siswa menggunakan debat parlementer guna meningkatkan motivasi berbicara mereka dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: (1) mempresentasikan materi tentang debat parlementer kepada mahasiswa ; (2) mengelompokkan siswa Jampang English Village, (3) beberapa kelompok bertindak sebagai kelompok afirmatif dan yang lainnya sebagai oposisi; (4) memotivasi dan berbagi tips agar mahir berbahasa Inggris. Langkah-langkah di atas dimaksudkan untuk menguatkan siswa agar lebih bertekad dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris.

Kata kunci: terdiri dari 3 – 5 kata/prase pendek, urut abjad, huruf kecil, dipisahkan dengan titik koma
