Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has provided significant benefits in supporting learning and communication; however, it has also introduced various risks, including misinformation, cyberbullying, personal data breaches, and online fraud. These challenges highlight the importance of strengthening digital literacy and internet safety awareness among high school students. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of students at SMAN 01 Tulungagung regarding the safe, responsible, and ethical use of digital media. The program was conducted through presentations, interactive discussions, case studies, social media security simulations, and evaluations using pre-tests and post-tests. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' understanding of digital literacy concepts, responsible social media practices, personal data protection, identification of online misinformation, and strategies for preventing cyber threats. Furthermore, participants showed high enthusiasm throughout the training sessions and demonstrated the ability to apply basic digital security practices in their daily use of social media. Therefore, this training program proved effective in improving students' digital literacy competencies and internet safety awareness, equipping them with essential skills to navigate the challenges of the social media era.
