THE FADING OF THE EXISTENCE OF MINANGKABAU LANGUAGE AND FOLKLORE IN THE ERA 4.0
Abstract
Folklore is a tradition or culture of an ethnic group in Indonesia. The purpose of
folklore is to share values, traditions, beliefs and other forms that provide an identity for a community group. Today (technology-based era) the effects of the
development of modern media make Minangkabau folklore begin to fade its
existence as a medium to share values, traditions, beliefs and other forms that
provide an identity for a group of Minangkabau people. This is because folklore is
not a popular culture. Folklore is studied informally by interacting with others.
Unlike folklore, popular culture is usually created or produced for a large audience and is usually disseminated through mass media, such as television, radio, magazines, internet and others. Therefore, to restore the existence of Minangkabau folklore in the Minangkabau Community, the role and support of all parties is needed. Both from the government, folklore, parents and the young generation of Minangkabau to preserve Minangkabau folklore.
