PROSES PEMBENTUKAN KATA DAN MEDAN MAKNA COVID-19 PADA SURAT KABAR ONLINE JAKARTA POST (SEBUAH KAJIAN SEMANTIK)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembentukan makna dan medan makna pada istilah istilah terkait virus corona yang terdapat pada artikel Jakarta Post. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar pembaca dapat lebih memahami makna kata kata baru terkait virus corona tanpa harus mencari di kamus dan mengetahui bagaimana proses kata itu terbentuk. Metodologi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian difokuskan dan dibatasi pada pembentukan kata dan medan makna pada surat kabar online Jakarta Post dari bulan Desember hingga Maret 2021. Analisis data menggunakan teori pembentukan kata yang digagas oleh Yule (2010). Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan metode dokumentasi berupa dokumentasi kata yang terdapat pada surat t kabar online Jakarta Post. Dari hasil analisis ditemukan lima proses pembentukan kata, yaitu derivation, compounding, Acronym, multiple process, dan clipping. Proses pembentukan kata yang paling dominan ditemukan pada proses derivation sebanyak 17 istilah. Sementara untuk medan makna, ada 6 medan makna terkait istilah virus corona diantaranya bahaya virus corona, tata cara pencegahan virus corona, jenis virus, pengobatan terkait virus corona, dan penularan virus corona. Medan makna yang banyak ditemukan pada istilah terkait virus corona di surat kabar online Jakarta post adalah bahaya virus corona dengan jumlah 12 istilah.
