Perancangan dan Praktik Pengoperasian Alat Pemotong Paving Block sebagai Upaya Pemberdayaan Pemuda di Lingkungan Pesantren dan Panti Asuhan Nurul Ihsan

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan secara bertahap di Pondok Pesantren dan Panti Asuhan Nurul Ihsan, Kelurahan Keranggan, Kecamatan Setu, Kota Tangerang Selatan, sebagai respons atas kebiasaan pemotongan paving block secara manual menggunakan palu dan pahat yang menghasilkan potongan kurang presisi, memakan waktu kerja lama, dan berisiko menimbulkan kecelakaan kerja. Tahap pertama kegiatan berfokus pada sosialisasi pengetahuan teknologi tepat guna serta perancangan konseptual alat pemotong paving berbasis mekanisme tuas yang sederhana, murah, dan tidak bergantung pada energi listrik. Tahap kedua dilaksanakan setelah alat berhasil difabrikasi, berupa pelatihan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3) serta praktik langsung pengoperasian alat secara bergilir dengan pendampingan tim pengabdian. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup koordinasi dengan mitra, analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan materi, demonstrasi, praktik terbimbing, dan evaluasi keterampilan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman prosedur K3 dari rata-rata 40% menjadi 90% jawaban benar, penurunan kebutuhan koreksi teknik penekanan tuas dari sekitar 70% peserta pada putaran praktik pertama menjadi sekitar 10% pada putaran ketiga, serta peningkatan kepercayaan diri peserta dalam mengoperasikan alat secara mandiri dari sekitar 30% menjadi 85%. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan bertahap, dimulai dari sosialisasi dan perancangan partisipatif lalu dilanjutkan pelatihan praktik langsung, efektif membangun kesiapan pengetahuan sekaligus keterampilan psikomotor pemuda pesantren dan panti asuhan sebagai bekal pengembangan kegiatan produktif dan kewirausahaan berbasis teknologi tepat guna secara berkelanjutan.
ABSTRACT
This community service program was carried out in two stages at the Nurul Ihsan Islamic Boarding School and Orphanage, Keranggan, Setu, South Tangerang City, in response to the community's reliance on manual paving-block cutting using a hammer and chisel, a practice that produced imprecise cuts, consumed excessive working time, and posed a risk of occupational injury. The first stage focused on knowledge dissemination regarding appropriate technology and the conceptual design of a lever-based paving cutter that is simple, low-cost, and independent of electrical power. The second stage, conducted after the tool had been fabricated, consisted of occupational health and safety (OHS) training together with supervised, rotational hands-on practice in operating the tool. The implementation method included partner coordination, needs analysis, material preparation, demonstration, guided practice, and skills evaluation. Evaluation results indicated that participants' correct-answer rate on OHS procedures rose from an average of 40% to 90%, the proportion of participants requiring correction of hand position or lever technique fell from about 70% in the first practice round to roughly 10% by the third round, and self-reported confidence in operating the tool independently increased from about 30% to 85%. These findings indicate that a staged approach, beginning with participatory socialization and design and followed by supervised practical training, effectively builds both the cognitive readiness and psychomotor skills of youth in boarding-school and orphanage settings, providing a foundation for sustainable technology-based productive and entrepreneurial activity.
