Peningkatan Kompetensi Siswa SMK Sasmita Jaya 2 dalam Pemanfaatan Energi Terbarukan melalui Pelatihan Instalasi Panel Surya
Keywords:
panel surya, energi terbarukan, praktikumAbstract
ABSTRACT
Addressing the primary issue of limited student competence in the field of renewable energy, particularly in solar panel system installation, due to low energy literacy and insufficient practical experience, students are not yet adequately prepared to meet the demands of industries transitioning toward clean energy. To overcome this challenge, this Community Service Program (PKM) proposes a solution in the form of small-scale Solar Power Plant (PLTS) installation training, integrated with Project-Based Learning. This approach is designed to enhance conceptual knowledge, strengthen practical skills, and foster entrepreneurial opportunities for students. The expected outcomes include improved student comprehension, demonstrated by a minimum 40% increase in post-test scores, at least 70% of participants being able to perform basic PLTS system installation, the successful development of a PLTS project, increased energy literacy with a minimum 30% improvement in comprehension scores, and a minimum 30% rise in students’ entrepreneurial interest. The program is implemented in three stages: preparation (coordination with partners, provision of equipment), implementation (theoretical and practical training, project execution, and educational activities), and evaluation (measurement of achievements through pre-test and post-test, skill observation, and entrepreneurship interest surveys). This program is expected to sustainably improve student competence while supporting the advancement of renewable energy within schools and communities. The activity involved 20 students, and overall, the program was declared successful. Evidence of this success is shown by the average post-test score of 95.5 achieved after theoretical and practical training on solar panel systems and their applications. This represents a significant improvement compared to the pre-test scores, which ranged between 50–65. We conclude that the community service activity was effectively absorbed by the participants, resulting in a 30% increase in scores.
