ABSTRACT
The increasing demand for household electrical energy causes national electricity consumption to continuously rise, heavily relying on fossil fuels and impacting the environment through carbon emissions and rising energy costs. A potential solution is the implementation of Off-Grid Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in the household sector [1, 2]. This study aims to analyze cost-effective independent energy implementation at the Riyadhul Awamil Islamic Boarding School, Rumpin, Bogor, West Java. The methodology includes a literature study, analysis of surrounding household energy needs, design of PLTS system capacity, and economic analysis of electricity cost savings alongside Return on Investment (ROI). The case study was conducted on surrounding households with a 2,200 VA electrical grid connection and an average energy consumption of 10–12 kWh per day. The results show that a 4 kWp Rooftop PLTS system generates an average of 392–420 kWh of electrical energy per month, yielding electricity cost savings of IDR 500,000–750,000 per month. The initial system investment ranges from IDR 45,000,000 to IDR 55,000,000, with a payback period of approximately 7–10 years. This implementation is proven to enhance energy independence, reduce carbon emissions, and support new and renewable energy programs in Indonesia.
