SOLUTION TO OVERCAM CONFUSION REGARDING THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS

This study aims to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of effective
communication and organizational support on role conflict among students in the
Psychology Study Program. This quantitative study uses a correlational design
with a population of all active students in the Psychology Study Program.
Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling, and data were collected
through an online questionnaire from 105 respondents. The analysis method used
was multiple linear regression analysis, preceded by a classical assumption test. The
F test results showed that effective communication and organizational support
simultaneously had a significant effect on role conflict, with a coefficient of
determination (R2) of 0.687, implying that these two variables contributed 68.7%
in explaining role conflict. However, the partial t-test results showed
contradictory findings: effective communication (X1) did not have a significant
partial effect (Sig = 0.643), while organizational support (X2) had a positive and
significant effect on role conflict (Sig = 0.000). The conclusion of this study is that
in a competitive academic environment, increased organizational support may be
accompanied by an increase in the role pressure felt by students, which in turn
triggers role conflict. Therefore, a policy review is needed to ensure that
organizational support is oriented towards mental well-being, not just
achievement expectations, in order to effectively mitigate role conflict.
