Abstract

 In the modern technological era, effective and easy-to-use security systems are increasingly needed, especially for rental properties such as boarding houses. The purpose of this research is to develop and design an ID card-based rental door automation system and the Internet of Things (IoT) using an ESP32 microcontroller in the Secang environment. This system consists of several main components, namely an ESP32 microcontroller as a control center, an RFID reader to read ID cards, and a Wi-Fi module to connect to the IoT. Only tenants who have registered their ID cards in the system can open the rental door. The IoT platform records and monitors access in real-time, allowing homeowners to track entry and exit activities. This research uses a prototype model research and development (R&D) approach to build an automatic room door locking system and device based on an Authorized Card. It is clear that the implementation of this system has good results. Reliability and security are tested in various situations. The system will recognize individual identities and automatically open the door. In addition, IoT-based monitoring capabilities allow owners to receive alerts in the event of unauthorized access. The results of the study show that ID cards that function with ESP32 and IoT-based door automation systems can serve as an effective solution to improve security and efficiency in rental residences.
