Abstract

Chili peppers are an agricultural product with high commercial value, primarily due to their quality and ripeness. Chili color is the most important indicator for determining ripeness and marketability. However, there are limitations in sorting chili peppers by hand. For example, it is time-consuming, has varying degrees of accuracy, and relies on human effort. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop a prototype of a color-based chili sorting and classification system by combining the TCS3200 sensor with the Internet of Things (IoT). The TCS3200 sensor is used to detect the color of chili peppers. These colors are then processed by a microcontroller to sort chili peppers into green, red, and yellow categories. Classification data is sent and transmitted in real time through an IoT platform, enabling remote monitoring and more effective data analysis. The system is also equipped with mechanical actuators for automatic chili sorting. Tests were conducted to determine the depth of the sensor in detecting color and the system's efficiency in the sorting process. The experimental results show that the system can perform classification with high accuracy and improve sorting efficiency compared to manual methods. This technology is designed to make the chili sorting process faster and more accurate and can be applied on an industrial scale to increase the productivity and quality of agricultural products.
