AN ANALYSIS OF IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS MEANING IN FROZEN FILM SCRIPT
Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify types of idioms found in Frozen film script and to describe the meaning of idioms found in Frozen film script. The data were taken from Frozen film script. Qualitative method was used in analyzing the data. To analyze the narratives and dialogues, Makkai’s theory was used. As the result, there are 81 idiomatic expressions are found in the Frozen film script. Those idiomatic expressions are divided into four types. Phrasal verb idiom is appeared 57 times, tornoure idiom is four times, irreversible binomial idiom is three times, phrasal compound idiom is seven times, and incorporating verb idiom is ten times. Meanwhile, the meaning of idiomatic expressions was based on the context of the dialogues and the narratives in Frozen film script.
