PENINGKATAN LITERASI DATA DAN KEMAMPUAN ANALISIS PREDIKTIF SISWA MELALUI WORKSHOP DATA MINING BERBASIS GOOGLE COLAB
Abstract
Data literacy and predictive analysis skills are increasingly essential competencies in the digital era. The activity is considered important given the absence of a similar program introducing computational data literacy to students at SMA Khalifa IMS, positioning this community service activity as an initial step in equipping secondary school students with foundational data science skills. This activity aimed to improve students' data literacy and predictive analysis capabilities through a Data Mining Workshop using Python and Google Colab, conducted on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at SMA Khalifa IMS, Tangerang Selatan, with 39 student participants. The method used was a workshop with a hands-on approach, covering material on data mining concepts, the Python programming language, and the use of Google Colab. Evaluation of 30 participants with complete data on both test sessions showed an increase in average scores from 90.17% (pre-test) to 93.47% (post-test), although a paired t-test indicated that this increase was not statistically significant (t=1.267; p=0.215; n=30). All 39 participants who attended remained active throughout the activity, and based on direct observation, participants were able to independently operate Google Colab after the practical session despite never having used it before. The activity shows a positive tendency in participants' understanding of data mining concepts and their ability to use Google Colab as a data analysis platform, and is expected to contribute to the development of students' digital competencies in preparation for the era of data-driven decision making. Beyond this, the activity also fostered participants' confidence in independently operating data analysis tools, preparing them for higher education and a data-driven workforce.
