Peningkatan Literasi Digital Akademik Melalui Pemanfaatan AI Prompting

Abstract

The development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought substantial changes to the way students acquire information and complete learning tasks. However, preliminary observations at SMA Bina Insan Mandiri, Bogor City, indicate that most students still utilize AI primarily as a tool for obtaining quick answers through simple instructions, without understanding prompt formulation techniques or the academic ethics of AI use. This condition has the potential to foster technological dependency, diminish critical thinking abilities, and increase the risk of digital plagiarism. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance students' academic digital literacy through Prompt Engineering training, enabling students to utilize AI effectively, productively, and responsibly as a learning aid. The method employed was the Tiered Prompt Engineering Framework (PEFB), comprising interactive lectures, subject-based case simulations, and hands-on practice using the CLEAR Framework (Context, Language, Expectation, Audience, and Role) together with the application of the 3R Rule (Research, Rewrite, Reference). The activity was conducted on April 29, 2026, at the Computer Laboratory of SMA Bina Insan Mandiri, involving 24 students from grades 10 and 11. The evaluation was carried out using a Pre-Test and a Post-Test, each consisting of 10 multiple-choice questions. The results showed an increase in the average score from 57.91 on the Pre-Test to 86.26 on the Post-Test, an improvement of 28.34 points. These results indicate an improvement in participants' understanding following the activity. In addition, this activity encouraged students to view AI as a tool that supports the thinking process, rather than as a substitute for thinking ability itself. This training may serve as an initial step toward strengthening academic digital literacy and the responsible use of AI within the school environment.
