ISLAMIC CULTURES IN PAULO COELHO’S “THE ALCHEMIST†BASED ON CULTURAL STUDIES
Abstract
The objective of this study is to find out Islamic cultures prestented in the novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Qualitative method was used in analyzing the data. The data is collected from a novel entitled “The Alchemistâ€. The data is taken from narration which is narrated by the author, setting narrated by the author and the dialogues of the characters. So, the data is in essay forms. Then, the data is classified to find cultures presented in the novel by using the theory of cultural study. As the results, there are four cateogories of Islamic cultures. They are shepherd, caravan, broker and commission, and falconry.
