The low reading interest of students at the Taman Harapan Insan Mulia Bambu Apus Foundation is still a problem in the world of education that must be resolved immediately. The government made a policy through the School Literacy Movement program which required students to read books for 15 minutes before class started which was intended to increase students' interest in reading. The purpose of this study was to determine students' reading abilities and interests through the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program that had been implemented in schools, the role of the school community in this program was very much needed to achieve the initial goal of implementing the School Literacy Movement program. This study uses a qualitative method. The results of the study show that students' interest and skills in reading are still lacking. Therefore, through the School Literacy Movement program, students are expected to instill the habit of reading in themselves. Students need direction and guidance from the teacher in order to understand the importance of reading. The School Literacy Movement Program that has been implemented by the government is expected that students can have more pleasure in reading many things.
