Peran Pendidikan Islam dalam Membentuk Karakter Generasi Muda yang Religius dan Moderat

Abstract

Character Building in Islamic Education discusses how Islamic education can shape the character of a quality young generation through a character building approach. In this study, it is stated that Islamic education has a concept of character building that refers to the Quran and Hadith, and pays attention to the development of spiritual, moral, social, and intellectual aspects. The character of the current young generation is very worrying because many young people are found to be caught in drugs. The dangers of drugs for addicts and young people, especially students, are very numerous and if not immediately stopped the habit of consuming drugs, this will slowly but surely worsen the health of the users themselves and will damage their future lives. External factors such as reading materials, both visual and non-visual, greatly contribute to the formation of adolescent character so it is not impossible that adolescents are increasingly difficult to control their emotions because they are ignited by agitative and even provocative information media. This is where the role of mentors in guiding adolescents is needed so that there is positive control as adolescents continue to grow and develop in their journey. Likewise, the role of religion in determining the journey of adolescents who continue to grow and develop, namely a vertical truth between creatures and their God. In this case, it is Islam when addressing character or what is called morals. As the prophet Muhammad was sent as an apostle for no other reason than to perfect morals.
