PELATIHAN DASAR BAHASA INGGRIS "PART OF SPEECH" BAGI SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA

Abstract

English proficiency has become an essential competency for students in the era of globalization, particularly in developing communication skills and accessing international educational resources. However, many junior high school students still experience difficulties in understanding English grammar, especially the concept of Part of Speech, which serves as the foundation for constructing correct sentences. This community service program aimed to improve students' understanding of the eight categories of Part of Speech and their application in simple English sentences. The activity was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 22 Setiabudi Pamulang from 15 October to 15 November 2025 using a participatory learning approach through lectures, discussions, written exercises, and online quizzes. Interactive media such as PowerPoint presentations and educational videos were employed to enhance students' engagement. The evaluation results indicated that approximately 93% of participants successfully identified and applied Part of Speech correctly in simple sentence construction. The training also increased students' confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm for learning English. Therefore, this community service activity effectively strengthened students' basic English grammar competence and can serve as a model for similar educational programs.
