Abstrak

Child health is crucial for the progress of a nation. Research shows that adequate nutrition is essential for child growth and development. However, beyond nutritional factors, exposure to everyday substances also affects children's health and socio-emotional development, especially from prenatal stages to adulthood. Exceptional children (ALB) or those with disabilities have health and nutritional needs that may differ from other children. Food plays a vital role in their health, but sensitivities to food and personal care products are major concerns. Personal care products often contain chemicals that can trigger allergic reactions or skin irritation in sensitive children, worsening their symptoms or syndromes. Proper parenting in terms of controlling nutritional intake and using safe daily care products is essential to prevent negative impacts on the health and development of special needs children, including neurobehavioral disorders. In this context, the role of parents is crucial in providing a healthy and supportive environment for their children with special needs. Based on these issues, the implementation method involved socialization/education for guardians or parents of students, with the hope of increasing their awareness and knowledge about harmful substances in food and everyday personal care products that affect the health and mental well-being of children with disabilities. The activity was followed by evaluation and monitoring to assess the guardians' awareness regarding these hazardous substances.
