Creating a Digital Bilingual Storybook for Teaching English with the Insertion of Creativity Value in Grade 5

English language learning in elementary schools requires innovative learning media that support both language acquisition and 21st-century competencies, particularly creativity. This study aimed to develop a digital bilingual storybook with the insertion of creativity values for Grade 5 English language learning. The study employed a Design and Development (D&D) research design adapted from Huhta et al. (2013), consisting of design, development, and evaluation stages. Data were collected through document analysis, teacher interviews, and expert judgment involving Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) experts. The findings revealed that creativity values were systematically integrated through instructional mapping, storyline development, learning activities, and digital features. The final product, entitled Jam Istimewa di Rumah Nenek Isa (The Special Clock at Grandma Isa’s House), combined bilingual storytelling, interactive learning tasks, and creativity-based problem-solving activities. The evaluation results showed that the developed product obtained a mean score of 4.96, categorized as “Very Good.” The study concludes that digital bilingual storytelling has strong potential to support meaningful English learning, creativity development, and student engagement among elementary school learners. Thus, the findings of this study imply that digital bilingual storytelling can become an innovative instructional alternative for English language learning in elementary schools.
