Journal History
Al-Maqrizi: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah dan Studi Islam is a scientific journal managed by the Islamic Economics Study Program at Pamulang University. The journal is named after the great Muslim intellectual figure, Al-Maqrizi (d. 1442 CE), who was widely recognized as a prominent historian and economic thinker of his time.
The choice of the name Al-Maqrizi reflects the journal's aspiration to carry on the scholarly spirit of this figure. Al-Maqrizi was known for his remarkable productivity in writing, producing more than a hundred works covering various fields, particularly Islamic history and economics. His experience as a muhtasib (market inspector) greatly influenced his thinking on economic issues, inflation, and monetary policy, which were later articulated in his monumental works such as Ighatsah Al-Ummah bi Kasyfi Al-Ghummah. By bearing his name, this journal is committed to serving as a platform for the study and development of Islamic economic thought and Islamic studies in the contemporary era.
Al-Maqrizi Journal was officially first published in 2023, with Volume 1, Number 1 released in June. Since its inception, the journal has established a consistent publication schedule, issued twice a year in June and December. This consistency demonstrates the journal management's commitment to regular scholarly publication, which is one of the key indicators of an academic journal's credibility.
The focus and scope of this journal are to examine the theories and practices of Islamic Economics and Islamic Studies, with particular attention to developments in Islamic countries in general and Indonesia in particular. The journal accepts and publishes original research articles as well as current issues relevant to the field. Thus, Al-Maqrizi Journal serves as Pamulang University's contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Islamic economics and Islamic studies at the national level.
