Author Guidelines

Authors intending to submit manuscripts to Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) are required to comply with the following guidelines. Manuscripts must represent original scholarly work, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration by any other journal. Submissions should demonstrate novelty, academic rigor, methodological clarity, and a meaningful contribution to legal scholarship.

Manuscript Language

Beginning with Volume 9, Issue 1 (2026), all manuscripts submitted to Pamulang Law Review must be written entirely in English using clear, formal, and academically appropriate language.

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts should generally range between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including footnotes and references. Longer submissions may be considered when justified by the significance and complexity of the research.

Manuscript Structure

Submitted manuscripts should be arranged in the following order:

  1. Title
    • Written in English.
    • Maximum 20 words.
    • Reflects the substance and novelty of the study.
  2. Author Information
    • Full name(s).
    • Institutional affiliation.
    • Country.
    • ORCID ID.
    • Email address.
    • Official institutional email address.
  3. Abstract
    • Presented in both English and Indonesian.
    • Maximum 250 words for each version.
    • Includes research objectives, research problem, methodology, findings, and conclusion.
    • Must be self-contained and free from citations, references, and footnotes.
  4. Keywords
    • Three to five relevant keywords.
    • Separated by commas.
  5. Introduction
    • Background of the study.
    • Literature review.
    • Research gap and novelty.
    • Research objectives.
  6. Research Questions
    • Clearly formulated legal issues or research questions.
  7. Research Methods
    • Required for original research articles.
    • Should explain the research type, approach, legal materials or data sources, and analytical method.
  8. Discussion / Analysis
    • Presents findings and legal analysis systematically.
    • Addresses research questions and relevant legal theories.
    • May include tables, figures, charts, or other supporting materials.
  9. Conclusions
    • Directly answer the research questions.
    • Highlight implications and contributions of the study.
    • Written in paragraph form and should not exceed four sentences.
  10. References
    • Arranged alphabetically.
    • Prepared using Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (Full Note).
    • Authors are strongly encouraged to use Mendeley Reference Manager.

Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must follow the official Pamulang Law Review template with the following specifications:

  • Font: Cambria
  • Font Size: 12 pt
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Alignment: Justified
  • First-line Paragraph Indentation: 1 cm
  • No additional spacing before or after paragraphs

Citation and Referencing Style

Pamulang Law Review adopts the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (Full Note System). All references must be cited through footnotes, and authors are encouraged to ensure consistency and accuracy through reference management software.

Tables and Figures

Tables, figures, and charts must:

  • Be relevant to the discussion.
  • Be clearly readable.
  • Have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.
  • Include titles and sources where applicable.
  • Use an open-table format without vertical lines.

Originality and Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are subject to plagiarism screening before entering the review process. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, falsification, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected.

Submission Checklist

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  • The manuscript complies with the journal template.
  • The article falls within the journal’s scope.
  • Abstracts are provided in English and Indonesian.
  • References follow the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition).
  • ORCID information is included.
  • The manuscript has been proofread for language quality and academic consistency.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the manuscript being returned to the author for revision prior to peer review.

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright of their work and grant Pamulang Law Review the right of first publication. The published work will be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and sharing in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source of publication.
  2. Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work, including depositing it in institutional repositories, personal websites, academic social networks, or other scholarly platforms, provided that acknowledgment is given to its initial publication in Pamulang Law Review.
  3. Authors are encouraged to disseminate and share their work online before, during, and after the submission and publication process, as such practices can facilitate productive scholarly exchange, increase visibility, and contribute to greater citation impact.
  4. Authors warrant that the submitted manuscript is original, does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party, and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another publication.
  5. Any use of published materials from Pamulang Law Review must include proper attribution to the author(s) and citation of the original publication in the journal.
  6. In the event of proven ethical violations, plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct, the Editorial Board reserves the right to take corrective actions, including article correction, withdrawal, or retraction in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics standards.

Privacy Statement

Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information collected through its journal management and publication system. The journal recognizes the importance of safeguarding personal data in accordance with applicable ethical standards and data protection principles.

The names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, and any other personal information provided by authors, reviewers, editors, and users of this journal will be used solely for editorial, peer-review, publication, indexing, archiving, and communication purposes directly related to the operation of Pamulang Law Review.

Personal information will not be disclosed, sold, rented, transferred, or made available to third parties for commercial, marketing, or unrelated purposes without the explicit consent of the data subject, except where disclosure is required by law or necessary for legitimate scholarly publishing activities, such as DOI registration, indexing services, plagiarism screening, digital preservation, and citation tracking.

Pamulang Law Review implements reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. By registering with or submitting content to the journal, users acknowledge and consent to the collection and use of their information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to update this Privacy Statement when necessary to comply with evolving legal, ethical, and publishing standards.
