Author Guidelines

Authors intending to submit manuscripts to Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) are required to comply with the following guidelines. Manuscripts must constitute original scholarly work, must not have been previously published, and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Submissions are expected to demonstrate scholarly originality, methodological rigor, analytical depth, and a significant contribution to the development of legal scholarship.

Manuscript Language

Beginning with Volume 9, Issue 1 (2026), all manuscripts submitted to Pamulang Law Review must be written entirely in English using clear, formal, grammatically accurate, and academically appropriate language.

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts should generally contain between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including footnotes and references. Manuscripts exceeding this limit may be considered where the length is justified by the scope, complexity, or significance of the research.

Manuscript Structure

Submitted manuscripts should be organized in the following order:

1. Title
   • Written in English.
   • Maximum of 20 words.
   • Clearly reflects the principal issue, scope, and scholarly contribution of the research.
2. Author Information
   • Full name(s).
   • Institutional affiliation.
   • Country.
   • ORCID iD.
   • Email address.
   • Official institutional email address, where available.
3. Abstract
   • Presented in both English and Indonesian.
   • Maximum of 250 words for each version.
   • Clearly states the research problem, objective, methodology, principal findings, and conclusion.
   • Must be self-contained and must not contain citations, references, or footnotes.
4. Keywords
   • Consist of three to five relevant keywords.
   • Separated by commas.
   • Should accurately represent the principal concepts addressed in the manuscript.
5. Introduction
   • Provides the background and context of the research.
   • Presents relevant previous scholarship.
   • Identifies the research gap and novelty.
   • Clearly states the objectives and scholarly significance of the study.
6. Research Questions
   • Formulates the principal legal issues or research questions addressed by the study.
7. Research Methods
   • Required for original research articles.
   • Explains the type of research, research approach, legal materials and/or data sources, methods of data collection where applicable, and analytical method.
8. Discussion / Analysis
   • Presents research findings and legal analysis systematically and critically.
   • Directly addresses the research questions.
   • Engages with relevant legislation, judicial decisions, legal doctrines, theories, and previous scholarship.
   • Tables, figures, charts, or other supporting materials may be included where relevant.
9. Conclusions
   • Provide clear and direct answers to the research questions.
   • Emphasize the principal findings, implications, and scholarly contribution of the research.
   • Must be written in paragraph form and should not exceed four sentences.
10. References

• Arranged alphabetically.
• Prepared consistently in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition.
• Authors are strongly encouraged to use Mendeley Reference Manager or equivalent reference management software to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Formatting Requirements

All manuscripts must follow the official Pamulang Law Review manuscript template and comply with the following formatting requirements:

• Font: Cambria
• Font Size: 12 pt
• Line Spacing: 1.5
• Alignment: Justified
• First-line Paragraph Indentation: 1 cm
• Paragraph Spacing: 0 pt before and 0 pt after

Citation and Referencing Style

Pamulang Law Review applies the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition, Full Note System. References to legislation, judicial decisions, books, journal articles, and other scholarly materials must be appropriately cited through footnotes.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all citations and bibliographic information. The use of reference management software is strongly recommended.

Tables and Figures

Tables, figures, charts, and other visual materials must:

• Be directly relevant to the analysis.
• Be clearly presented and readable.
• Have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI where applicable.
• Include appropriate titles, numbering, and sources.
• Use an open-table format without vertical lines.
• Respect applicable copyright and licensing requirements.

Originality and Publication Ethics

All manuscripts are subject to originality and plagiarism screening before proceeding to the peer-review process. Submissions involving plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, or other forms of research and publication misconduct may be rejected or subjected to appropriate editorial action.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with the publication ethics and editorial policies of Pamulang Law Review.

Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:

• The manuscript complies with the official journal template.
• The manuscript falls within the journal's aims and scope.
• The manuscript is written in English.
• English and Indonesian abstracts are provided.
• The research gap, novelty, and objectives are clearly identified.
• References and footnotes comply with the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition.
• ORCID iDs and complete author information are provided.
• The manuscript has been carefully proofread for language, consistency, and academic quality.
• All necessary permissions for third-party copyrighted materials have been obtained.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the manuscript being returned to the author for revision before it proceeds to peer review.

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) agree to the following terms:

1. Authors retain copyright in their published works and grant Pamulang Law Review the right of first publication. Articles published in the journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
2. Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, users are permitted to copy and redistribute the published material in any medium or format and to remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the source of publication is acknowledged, a link to the applicable license is provided, and any adapted material is distributed under the same or a compatible license.
3. Authors may enter into separate and additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of their work, including depositing it in institutional repositories, publishing it on personal or professional websites, or incorporating it into other scholarly works, provided that the original publication in Pamulang Law Review is properly acknowledged and such distribution remains consistent with the applicable license.
4. Authors are encouraged to archive and disseminate their published works through institutional repositories, academic platforms, personal or professional websites, and other appropriate scholarly channels to increase accessibility, discoverability, scholarly communication, and research impact.
5. By submitting a manuscript to Pamulang Law Review, authors declare that the work is original, does not unlawfully infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of any third party, and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.
6. Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for copyrighted materials included in their manuscripts, including figures, tables, photographs, illustrations, and other third-party content. Appropriate attribution and acknowledgment must be provided where required.
7. Any reuse of material published in Pamulang Law Review must comply with the terms of the applicable CC BY-SA 4.0 license, including the requirements concerning attribution and ShareAlike.
8. In cases of confirmed plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other violations of research and publication ethics, the Editorial Board may undertake appropriate corrective action, including the publication of corrections, expressions of concern, withdrawal, or retraction in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
9. The opinions, interpretations, arguments, findings, and conclusions expressed in published articles remain the sole responsibility of the respective author(s) and do not necessarily represent the views or institutional positions of the Editorial Board, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pamulang, or the Publisher.

Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) is committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and appropriate use of personal information collected through its journal management and scholarly publishing activities. Personal data are processed only to the extent reasonably necessary for editorial administration, peer review, publication, scholarly communication, indexing, preservation, and other legitimate activities associated with academic publishing.

Names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, ORCID iDs, and other information provided by authors, reviewers, editors, and registered users will be used primarily for purposes directly related to the editorial and publication processes of Pamulang Law Review. Such purposes may include manuscript administration, correspondence, peer-review management, publication, metadata dissemination, DOI registration, indexing, archiving, digital preservation, and other scholarly communication activities.

Personal information will not be sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties for unrelated commercial or marketing purposes. Information may, however, be shared with relevant scholarly publishing services where reasonably necessary for legitimate journal operations, including DOI registration agencies, indexing and abstracting services, plagiarism-detection services, digital preservation systems, and other infrastructure supporting scholarly publication. Disclosure may also occur where required by applicable law.

Pamulang Law Review takes reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, or disclosure. Access to personal information is limited according to legitimate editorial and administrative needs.

Information intended to form part of the scholarly record—including author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID iDs, article metadata, and other publication-related information—may remain publicly available as part of the permanent academic record after publication.

By registering with the journal, submitting a manuscript, participating in peer review, or otherwise using the journal's editorial system, users acknowledge that their information may be processed for legitimate scholarly publishing purposes in accordance with this Privacy Statement and applicable institutional and legal requirements.

Pamulang Law Review may periodically revise this Privacy Statement to reflect developments in applicable law, publication ethics, data protection standards, scholarly communication practices, or journal operations. Any revised policy will be made publicly available through the journal's official website.
