Publication Ethics

Pamulang Law Review (PalRev) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, transparency, and professional responsibility in scholarly publishing. These ethical principles govern the conduct of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The journal adheres to internationally recognized best practices and ethical guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Pamulang Law Review maintains a strict policy against plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, citation manipulation, and any other form of academic misconduct. Manuscripts found to violate ethical standards may be rejected, corrected, withdrawn, or retracted at any stage of the publication process. The journal reserves the right to utilize similarity detection software to assess the originality of all submitted manuscripts.

EDITOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Editorial Independence and Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, legal significance, methodological soundness, relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, and recommendations provided by peer reviewers.

Fair Evaluation

Editors assess manuscripts solely on academic quality and intellectual contribution. Evaluation shall not be influenced by an author's nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, political views, or other personal characteristics.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related communications. Information concerning a manuscript may only be disclosed to individuals directly involved in the editorial and publication process.

Conflict of Interest

Editors must avoid any situation that may create a conflict of interest. Unpublished materials contained in submitted manuscripts may not be used for personal research or professional advantage. Editors with potential conflicts must recuse themselves from handling the manuscript concerned.

REVIEWER RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers play an essential role in assisting editors to evaluate the quality, originality, validity, and scholarly contribution of submitted manuscripts. Reviewer recommendations support editorial decision-making and help authors improve their work.

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. Submitted manuscripts may not be shared, discussed, copied, or disclosed to third parties without authorization from the editorial office.

Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively, constructively, and professionally. Criticisms should be supported by clear arguments and relevant academic reasoning rather than personal opinions.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline review assignments when personal, institutional, collaborative, or financial relationships could compromise their impartiality.

Ethical Reporting

Reviewers are encouraged to inform the editorial office of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial similarity with previously published works, or other forms of research misconduct.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All manuscripts submitted to Pamulang Law Review undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine compliance with the journal’s focus, scope, and submission requirements. Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary screening proceed to a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers possessing expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area. Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewer reports and editorial evaluation.

AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting Standards

Authors must present their research accurately, honestly, and transparently. Any form of fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, or misleading presentation of findings constitutes unethical conduct and is strictly prohibited.

Originality and Proper Citation

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works that have not been published previously or simultaneously submitted to another publication. All sources, quotations, data, and ideas derived from other works must be appropriately cited.

Data Integrity

Authors should maintain accurate records of research data and be prepared to provide supporting materials when requested by the editorial office for verification purposes.

Ethical Compliance

Research reported in submitted manuscripts must comply with applicable legal, professional, and ethical standards, including principles relating to human rights, research ethics, and responsible academic conduct.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could potentially influence the interpretation, analysis, or presentation of research findings. Sources of research funding should also be clearly acknowledged.

Authorship

Authorship should be restricted to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and consent to its submission.

Multiple Submission and Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit the same or substantially similar manuscripts to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication is considered unethical and unacceptable.

Corrections and Retractions

Authors are responsible for promptly informing the journal of any significant errors identified in published articles and must cooperate with editors in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when required.
